On your Behind-The-Ear and Receiver-In-Canal Oticon hearing aids, you will have a hearing aid dome. This dome helps to situate your hearing aid speaker so that you can have sound properly transmitted. However, this dome isn’t meant to last the lifetime of your Oticon hearing aids.
Since the hearing aid dome is positioned at the opening—and a little inside—of your ear canal, it is prone to having earwax build-up, moisture degradation, and other issues. As hearing aid domes are soft and flexible plastic, they only last about a month of continuous use. So, once a month, you will need to swap out your hearing aid dome.
If you aren’t sure how to change out your Oticon hearing aid dome, you are in luck—Hearing Associates of Las Vegas are here to help you with all your hearing aid maintenance needs.
How To Change Your Oticon Hearing Aid Dome
Taking off an old hearing aid dome and putting on a new one is very simple and easy. All you need to do is follow these steps:
1. Hold onto your hearing aid speaker (but not the dome) with your nondominant hand. With your free hand, carefully pull the hearing aid dome off the end of the speaker.
2. Using a soft, microfiber cloth, clean off the speaker to ensure no moisture or wax will become trapped.
3. Place the new hearing aid dome on the speaker.
4. Once in place, be sure to press firmly on the hearing aid dome to ensure that it is completely locked into place.
